2 What you need before starting
- A working installation of Onyx on your computer.
- A mouse or trackpad that supports right-click actions (many Onyx actions use context menus). We definitely recommend using an external mouse as input device.
- The workshop data files in
sem-workshop/data/or online https://github.com/brandmaier/lip2026-onyx-workshop/tree/main/sem-workshop/data. - Basic familiarity with SEM terms such as latent variables, loadings, residual variances, model fit, and nested model comparison.
2.1 Installation
You can download the most recent version of Ωnyx for all operating systems here (including Windows, Mac OSX, and Unix/Linux here).
2.2 Prerequistes
Ωnyx requires a JAVA runtime environment. If you haven’t installed JAVA, please download a recent version, for example OpenJDK (https://openjdk.org/index.html).
2.3 Download
For this workshop make sure to install the Developer version / unstable, which contains the latest features:
